Supporting the initiation and development of innovative educational practices

This page explains what we aim to achieve by focusing on the theme of 'teachers and innovations', and points to key content on the site which is relevant to this theme.

Vision

Futurelab’s Teachers and Innovations programme will:

  • support the development of a culture of innovation in education by promoting innovative practices that enhance learning and teaching and the professional development of educators
  • develop prototype technologies, tools, techniques and exemplars to support innovation and model new and dynamic educational practices.

Futurelab aims to develop strategic relationships with key stakeholder communities, including practitioners, policy makers, researchers and hardware and software developers, in order to help produce effective resources, and also intends to build an active and growing network of ‘innovators’ who will provide evidence of the impacts of innovation in practice.

Research reports, evidence and theoretically informed outputs will help stimulate debate and action amongst practitioners, and a range of events, including a two-day conference, will seek to promote innovative practice and inspire attendees.
